Nasi Ayam Hailam

Assalamualaikum...

Greetings my friend, here I am still alive and what a post I got for you guys....For us Malaysian, Nasi Ayam, or Chicken Rice are common but yet there are so many varieties of Nasi Ayam in our region, and they are all good to every individual taste... for me what makes Nasi Ayam special are the combination of four (4) element that makes a Nasi Ayam complete... they are the rice should be fluffy with a taste of the chicken essence, then the broth should be hot and aromatic, then the sauce which consist of the sambal and the soy, and lastly what makes the Nasi ayam complete is the chicken itself either steamed of roasted (normally fried) but the chicken should be moist not dried.... Mmmm mouth watering Nasi Ayam...

So this are one of my favorite place for my favorite Nasi Ayam, the restaurant is called Nasi Ayam Hailam Restaurant... Hailam stands for the one of the region in main land China that the recipe was originated. Not to forget the restaurant is certified with Halal certificate, actually I was told that the owner is a mualaf, a chinese convert to Islam, So lets have look at what is going on at the restaurant.....

This is the main entrance where they display the finely cooked chicken

This is the fluffy rice, cook to perfection

We had the steamed chicken

And also the roasted chicken

as a side dish we add the best kerabu mangga ever (mango salad)

and finally the comfortable environment, with a touch of string music instrument decor

Well guys how's that? even when I'm writing about it makes me imagine that I'm still there... hehehehe

Here the Info of the restaurant:

P/S: I don't want to talk about the broth, actually it tasted like full of MSG (Ajinamoto)... I once saw in front of my eyes when they prepare the broth they put one bag full of MSG... that's why I give them 4 and a half thumbs up... if they make the broth with natural flavor then I give them a 5 thumbs up...

Mo'men

Assalamualaikum...

Its that time of the month where I go hunting with my partners for new food joints... so last Sunday I came across this newly fast-food joint, I normally don't want to cover any fast-food, but this time its different..

This is Mo'men, its a fast-food concept, where you order at the counter and enjoy your meal at the table while sitting on an uncomfortable chairs... just like any other fast-food joints.... Mo'men is a chain of fast food restaurants based in Cairo, Egypt. and now it's available in Malaysia, in Shah Alam, section 7....

A few views of the interior of the restaurant.

That day I had Philly Steak Sandwich Combo

Carvings

Assalamualaikum...

Its been a long time since I wanted to write something about fruit carving... But I need to get my facts right first. Last Friday I conduct a fruit carving class for may student, they were all excited as they never done it before.. so I explain to them that fruit carving originated from Asian countries such as Thai, and China... In China the technique of carving that they use are: they use chisel to carve, they carve a live shaped sculpture, such as bird, tiger and so on.... where as in Thai the technique are different,  the use knives, curved knives, they carve in to floral shaped master pieces... Another thing in Thailand the ladies who do the fruit carving but when the skill has evolve into its neighbor country such as Malaysia, its the opposite... the man can do better fruit carving then the ladies...

Here are the tools that I use to do my fruit carving

Steps of making the fruit carving come alive..

Vivo Bukit Tinggi

Assalamualaikum...

Hmmm where to start..... these few weeks have been restless for me, just got back from Kuantan, got classes to conduct, and classes to attend, got assignment to give out and also assignment that I have to finish... So today I steal some of my precious time just to scribble about this place I just went with my special someone...

It was that day when we don't know where to go and have lunch at, somehow or rather we end up at Jaya Jusco Bukit Tinggi Klang... so we planed just go in a restaurant that catches both our interest.. hehehe... I wanted to go to a Japanese joint, but I have to consider what we both like.... so as we went around and around we finally end up at this one place called Vivo, the ambiance looks like a kopitiam.. but the menu is more of a western Mediterranean type... so we're both happy with the menu...

She's having Chamomile Tea

for starter I'm having the Classic Caesar Salad
and Bananarama for my drink

she's having Seafood Baked Rice

and my main course is the Beef Lasagna

In conclusion what I can say about this place is I give it a 2 and a half thumbs up, the Seafood Bake Rice was very nice but... the Beef Lasagna tasted very funny.... My suggestion, don't order the Beef Lasagna... hehehehe
